How the range is worked out
- Each question has a difficulty level, from a grade 3 percentage to a grade 8 conditional probability. Difficulty levels are set by our question writers.
- We find the ability that best explains how many you got right, allowing for how hard those questions were.
- We place that ability among the 530,142 students who sat Edexcel GCSE Maths in 2026 and read the grade from Pearson's published shares: 18.5% got a 7 or above and 61.2% a 4 or above.
- Twelve questions cannot pin down one grade; a full past paper narrows it.
Questions
Is it only for Edexcel?
The questions follow Edexcel 1MA1, but every topic here is on AQA and OCR GCSE Maths too, so the result is useful for any board.
Foundation or Higher?
Both. The first questions are Foundation level and the last are Higher only. If your likely grade is 5 or below, Foundation may suit you; the Higher or Foundation tool helps you decide.
How long does it take?
15 minutes: 7½ minutes without a calculator, then 7½ minutes with one.
Do I need an account?
No. Your marks and likely grade show straight away. A free account adds the topics to fix first, a two-week plan and every answer worked through, and keeps them.
What grade do most students get?
In 2026, 61.2% of Edexcel GCSE Maths students got a 4 or above, 45% a 5 or above and 18.5% a 7 or above.
