Five formula questions

Five questions, each using a formula printed on the Foundation sheet. Pick the formula, substitute, and give the units.

Given or learn it?

  • Trapezium area=12(a+b)h\text{Trapezium area} = \tfrac{1}{2}(a + b)h
  • Circle area=πr2\text{Circle area} = \pi r^2
  • Compound interest: P(1+r100)n\text{Compound interest: } P\left(1 + \tfrac{r}{100}\right)^n
  • x=−b±b2−4ac2ax = \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}
  • asin⁡A=bsin⁡B=csin⁡C\dfrac{a}{\sin A} = \dfrac{b}{\sin B} = \dfrac{c}{\sin C}
  • Sphere volume=43πr3\text{Sphere volume} = \tfrac{4}{3}\pi r^3
  • Cone volume=13πr2h\text{Cone volume} = \tfrac{1}{3}\pi r^2 h
  • Gradient=change in ychange in x\text{Gradient} = \dfrac{\text{change in } y}{\text{change in } x}
  • Speed=distancetime\text{Speed} = \dfrac{\text{distance}}{\text{time}}
  • Sector area=θ360×πr2\text{Sector area} = \tfrac{\theta}{360} \times \pi r^2

Sort each formula.
