Questions people ask
When is the November 2026 GCSE English Language resit?
AQA 8700 Paper 1 is on Tuesday 3 November 2026 and Paper 2 on Thursday 5 November 2026, both in the morning and each 1 hour 45 minutes.
Who can sit GCSE English Language in November?
Students aged 16 or over on 31 August 2026. Your school, college or exam centre makes the entry and sets its own deadline.
What should I practise first for an English resit?
Writing is half of each paper: Question 5 is worth 40 of 80 marks, 24 for content and organisation and 16 for technical accuracy. Fix whatever the four questions above show first, then keep reading and writing in every week.
Is this an AQA mark or grade?
No. The questions are our own reviewed practice. They show where to start, not your grade.
I am entered for Edexcel or OCR. Does this help?
Every English Language specification sits on 3 and 5 November 2026, so the dates hold. The questions and tasks here are written for AQA 8700; use your board's own past papers for its question types.
