Build-pack order 1 (L01 to L04): close reading, line control, inference, evidence, summary and synthesis. Paper 1 Q1, Paper 2 Q1 and Q2.
Language and structure
Order 2 (L05 to L07): language, grammar, form and structure with explained effects. Paper 1 Q2 and Q3, Paper 2 Q3.
Evaluate and compare
Order 3 (L08 to L10): evaluation, like-for-like comparison and writer-method comparison. Paper 1 Q4, Paper 2 Q2 and Q4.
Writing foundations
Order 4 (L11 to L12): audience, register, organisation and technical accuracy (AO5 and AO6) for both Q5 tasks.
Description and narrative
Order 5 (L13 to L14): Paper 1 Q5, a focused description or a controlled narrative opening.
Viewpoint writing
Order 6 (L15 to L16): Paper 2 Q5 viewpoint writing, and the other purposes and forms the specification names.
Spoken Language
Order 7 (L17): the separately endorsed presentation. It carries 0% of the 9 to 1 grade and is teacher-assessed.
