Questions people ask
When are the November 2026 GCSE resits?
English Language on Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 November; Maths on Wednesday 4, Friday 6 and Monday 9 November 2026 (Eduqas: 4 and 6 November), all mornings. Results come out on Wednesday 13 January 2027.
Is OCR Maths different?
Yes. OCR J560's non-calculator paper is the second one, on Friday 6 November; its first and third papers are calculator papers. Higher tier is Papers 4, 5 and 6.
Do I have to resit if I got a 3?
On a full-time 16 to 19 programme in England, yes: you keep studying for the GCSE. That does not mean you must sit in November; your school or college decides the entry. Part-time students can take another approved qualification on the way.
Can I still enter for November?
The standard deadline was 4 October 2026. Ask your centre whether it will accept a late entry, what it costs and when it must be arranged.
Can I resit other GCSEs in November?
No. November is for Maths and English Language only. Every other GCSE is sat in May and June.
Can I retake my GCSE maths exam if I fail?
Yes. You can resit in November if you are 16 or over on 31 August, or in the summer series; November 2026 entries closed on 4 October, so the next is June 2027, with entries by 21 February 2027.

What it does
Choose your subject and specification. See the papers you will sit, then check that your exam centre has confirmed your entry.
Students in England. GCSE Maths and English Language in November 2026 for AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR; other GCSEs for dates only. Not International GCSE.
Method
- Every paper row comes from the boards' final November 2026 timetables: AQA (version 1.1), Pearson (gcse-nov2026-final) and OCR (748823), read on 6 October 2026. All are morning sessions.
- The study rule is the DfE's 16 to 19 condition of funding for 2026 to 2027, tables 1 and 2: grade 3 on a full-time programme means the GCSE; grade 3 part-time, or grade 2 or below, means any approved qualification on the way to a grade 4; a grade 4 in English Literature meets the English condition; programmes under 150 hours are outside it.
- November sittings are open only to students aged 16 or over on 31 August 2026 (Ofqual).
