Five choices, one application: common questions
Can I sit the ESAT, TMUA or TARA twice if my choices have different deadlines?
No. You can only take each UAT-UK test once in an application cycle, in October or January. You must sit in October if you apply to a course with an October UCAS deadline that needs the test. For any other course you can sit in January. So if any choice that needs the test has the 15 October 2026, 6pm UK time deadline, your one sitting is in October.
What if two of my courses need different ESAT modules?
Everyone sits Mathematics 1 and most candidates sit two more modules. If one course lets you choose modules, sit the compulsory modules your other course needs. If two courses each need three compulsory ESAT modules that do not match, UAT-UK says you must ask its permission to sit four. Select all four modules when you book and UAT-UK reviews it.
Can I apply to Oxford and Cambridge in the same year?
Usually you can apply to only one course at either Oxford or Cambridge, not both. UCAS gives one exception: graduates applying for Graduate Medicine (A101) at Cambridge may also apply to A100 at Cambridge and A101 at Oxford.
How many medicine or dentistry choices can I make?
UCAS allows a maximum of four courses in any one of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or veterinary science. UCAS allows five choices in total.
