The nine topics

1 Number; 2 Algebra and graphs; 3 Coordinate geometry; 4 Geometry; 5 Mensuration; 6 Trigonometry; 7 Transformations and vectors; 8 Probability; 9 Statistics.

Core and Extended

Extended includes all of Core and adds harder content in every topic: surds, algebraic fractions, functions and differentiation, circle theorems II, the sine and cosine rules, vectors, conditional probability, cumulative frequency and histograms, among others.

Accuracy on the calculator papers

Unless a question says otherwise, give answers that are not exact to 3 significant figures, and angles to 1 decimal place. Keep full values in your calculator until the final answer.

Questions people ask

Which years does this syllabus cover?

Exams in 2026 and 2027 use the syllabus for 2025 to 2027, and 2028 uses the syllabus for 2028 to 2030. Their content and papers are the same.

Is there coursework?

No. Two written papers make up the whole grade, one without a calculator and one with.

Are all the formulas given in the exam?

No. A list of area and volume formulas (and, for Extended, a few more) is printed in each paper; the others, such as compound interest and the trigonometric ratios, must be learned.
